NOTE-WORTHY - Graduation
published: Monday | April 14, 2008

Graduation

If students are not excelling in a particular grade and their averages are way below average, then what's the point having them move to another grade. It is just ridiculous. Let them remain in that grade until they have learned to do their work properly, even if it means remaining in grade one until they graduate.

Bible on gays

In his article 'The gay dilemma' (The Gleaner, April 10), Mr Phinemann refers to the biblical condemnation of homosexuality. After years of research, I have come to the conclusion that the Bible approves of men being emotionally attracted to men and it does not condemn any form of sex between men except for male-male penetration.

Nevertheless, men penetrating men is okay if no one is harmed. Full details, including the biblical basis of this reasoning, can be seen on the site 'Gay and Christian' (www.gaysandslaves.com).

Ammo find

This letter is in response to 'Kingfish lands gun, ammo find'. I am a graduate student abroad and am very happy when good things 'a gwaan a yawd'. I must first congratulate Operation Kingfish for its great job in keeping those weapons off the streets.

I do think that more emphasis must be placed on apprehending individuals who are involved in these acts that continue to deface the good deeds of Jamaicans. Is there some way Kingfish could remove the weapons and track the package to its destined location?

Fasting and prayer

For too long the House of Parliament and the nation have been too divided and with this new administration, they have to take a different road that will lead to success.

I want to see the Opposition work with the Government and show the children of the nation how to have unity. I call on all Jamaicans, both here and overseas, to have a day of fasting and prayer for the Govern-ment because I believe it needs it. We must not ever in this life think that we have completed our journey with the people and God.

I would like to see coming out of this Budget a Jamaica with more education and skills so that we do not have look overseas for employment, but they must look to us for that area so the prime minister can feel proud of his country. May God bless and keep Jamaica and the work in our nation's Parliament.
