Chase ends in brutal murder
published: Monday | April 7, 2008

WESTERN BUREAU

A Hanover woman was gunned down execution-style in a neighbour's kitchen where she ran for refuge yesterday morning.

Police reports are that the incident happened about 6:30 a.m., while Julian Harvey, 29, was in her room. She was attacked by four armed men who had kicked in the door.

In an attempt to escape, the bleeding, Harvey, who had already been shot, ran outside but fell off an embankment and broke her leg. After crawling into a neighbour's kitchen, she was pursued, cornered in the kitchen and shot all over her body. The police have no motive for the killing.

Residents who heard the shot recalled thinking that it was nailing that was being done.

One person, on hearing the gunshots, recalled how he thought, "Ah who deh nail zinc so early," only to be told of the brutal incident a little later on.

Harvey, a caregiver of Clifton district in Hanover, leaves behind three children, 12, eight and five years old.
