Prime Minister of Jamaica wants review of AG's office
published: Thursday | April 3, 2008

Golding

Prime Minister Bruce Golding has ordered a review of operations at the Attorney General's (AG) Department, The Gleaner has been reliably informed.

While there has been no official word from Jamaica House, the Farquharson Institute of Public Affairs says it has been advised of the probe by the prime minister.

According to the institute, the review is to be carried out by the Public Sector Modernisation Division of the Cabinet Office.

This comes at a time when officials in the Attorney General's Office are remaining mum on allegations of disquiet in their department.

There have been reports from Government and legal circles that one of the main contentions in the department stems from a move to cut off certain funds since the current Government took control last September.
