TOP-FLIGHT strugglers August Town mauled modest competition in the form of Hanover's Sandy Bay whom they thrashed 8-0 to advance to the third round of the COK Champions Cup at the UWI Bowl, yesterday.
Three players, Calbert Coke, Akeem Thenstead and the club's leading scorer, Daniel Shaw, had two goals each as the Kingston team coasted to its biggest win of the season.
Coke opened the scoring in the 18th before adding another in 65th. Shaw netted in the 45th and 54th minutes, while Thenstead had two quick goals in the 75th and 77th minutes.
Jermaine Simpson (56th) and Nicholas Smith (90+) had the other goals for August Town.
Elsewhere, red-hot Village lit St Georges seemingly impenetrable Lynch Park fort on fire, when they handed the home team a rare 4-2 home loss.
Beyond reach
Omar Allen put Village into the lead in the fifth minute, but the home team pulled level through Denroy Dennis in the 20th.
However, another goal from Allen (65th) and strikes from Leon Irving (67th) and Troy Smith (85th) soon put the game beyond reach for St Georges.
Ricardo Watson snatched a consolation goal for the home team in the 86th minute.
At Clembhard Park, Premier League team Waterhouse had few problems with St Thomas' Albany and they cruised to a 3-0 win.
Kirk Ramsey opened the scoring in the 30th; Johnathan Williams extended the lead in the 47th, before Leon Strickland netted in the 87th.
In the late fixture, Portmore United were down to host Boys' Town at Ferdie Neita Park.
