WESTERN BUREAU:

Like the stars in the sky, the light inside Kingston businesswoman Dollis Campbell ignited on Sunday, March 16, electrifying the gardens of the Stony Hill, St Andrew residence of Director of Tourism Basil Smith.

'Forty-something' and even more beautiful than in her youthful 20s, Campbell and an intimate group of friends and family members celebrated yet another milestone in a life richly defined by community service, immense loyalty and endless compassion.

"A quintessential woman she is," said Basil Smith, who added that, "on occasions like this one is compelled to speak that she is royal."

Smith was among a long list of well-wishers who spoke of the jewel, the flower called Dollis.

"An advocate of children, lending support and giving love and mentoring to the children of Jamaica whose lives she has touched," remarked Audrey Budhai.

Tears

Campbell's mother, Ivy Williams, with tears in her eyes spoke of a daughter who since her days at Meadowbrook High was the champion for a large gathering of friends.

Joyce Scott, Charles Spence, Audrey Saddler, Leighton McCatty, Carrole Guntley and Bridgette Steele all described Dollis as a woman of substance.

Her dad, Derrick Williams, daughter Allisha Edwards, friends, Audrey Anderson, Marcia Wright, Rose Vaz, Relda Scott Smith, Dr Milton Hardie, Dennis Morrison, Jackie Stewart, Clarice Reddish, Donnette Reece, Cheryl Poyser, Gladys Cajamarca, and Georgia Bennett, all turned out for the occasion.
