Getting away from it all

It's Bacchanal Jamaica Beach J'ouvert fête time for this happy bunch. - Winston Sill/Freelance Photographer

Oh my dears, what a fabulous Easter weekend! From Port Antonio through to Negril, destination Jamaica was cooking with thermo-nuclear energy, and then some! Not only were Jamaicans out to party hearty, they were joined by a slew of international celebs and Jamaican nationals residing overseas in what was truly a fabfest!

Luvs, from the culture-vulture to the philistines, the socaphile to the jaded, the island was in the throes of pagan revelry, and fabulously so! For my word - what a celebration! Children, not even the Romans of yesteryear had it so good.

Now mind you, and that was only in first gear as the partying moves into overdrive this weekend, with the carnival week climaxing with road march and bacchanalia to be played out this Sunday on the streets of Kingston and luvs, it promises to be all that, and then some!

For these more chastened revellers not given to romping on the streets of Kingston, the preferred alternative is the absolutely fabulous smasheroni of an in-house carnival celebration with the annual 'Carnivale and Costume Parade' hosted by the oh so fabulous Breezes Runaway Bay in St Ann.

Hustle and bustle

Suzie Benjamin

Luvs, talk about the place to be! Last weekend in the hustle and bustle of it all when the north coast came alive with its fair share of hot events, as the Richmond Estate hosted the event popularly known as Chukka Cove Carnival Countdown; Day Dreams. Appleton Rapids Soca party was held at White River. Soca Luau was at Reggae Beach. And Beach J'ouvert was at James Bond Beach, all made the north coast one rocking beach party!

My dears, Breezes Runaway Bay resort was not to be outdone in the excitement, and was most definitely the place to be as the chic and fab opted to check in for a little carnival romp and then some as they to joined in-house guests in teams titled: The Soca Spartans, The Soca Royals and the Soca Revellers who all fiercely contested the now annual competition last Saturday.

This weekend for those not wanting to be a part of the street celebrations capital, the choice is the racy party atmosphere of Super-Hot Hedonism III, on the heels of the Breezes Runaway Bay fiesta.

Dears, it is one of the island's best kept carnival secrets. The fab, avoid the rush and hustle and bustle of the north coast during the long Easter weekend, as then as the coasts clear, they flock to the leading resorts, on carnival weekend, to get away from it all. This weekend my dears, it will be the super Hedonism III.

Precious angels, this pillar of partydom, promises to be one flamingly hot outing and nothing but.

Then, my dears, the founder and head of the Caribbean's leading model agency, Pulse's Kingsley Cooper, and the general manager, the fabulous Romae Gordon, returned to Jamaica, from the Big Apple, just in time to host a swanky little cocktail reception at the Hilton Kingston hotel on Wednesday evening for the 25 finalists in this year's staging of the prestigious Miss Jamaica Universe pageant that proved a knockout!

Daahlings, the word out of New York is all good as the buzz is the agency's top performers are now the toast of that market, with latest discoveries who went on along on the go-see, coming in for rave reviews, to the point of two of the budding models being dubbed Fashion's Future Face, by one of New York's more renowned talent spotters.

My dears, more anon, as this one promises to be a hot number when it hits!

And happy birthday greetings to Commissioner (retired) Lucius Thomas, who celebrates his birthday today, March 28.

Famed musicologist Monty Blake celebrated on the 25th.

The ultra-fab and definitely haute-fab Suzie Benjamin celebrated on Sunday, the 23rd.

Happy returns y'all.

Then Howard Barton and his decidedly gorgeous wife, Nancy Kalb Barton, arrived in Kingston on Wednesday afternoon from their Manhattan, New York, home for 10 days of sun and fun.

And former Canadian High Commissioner John Robinson, who was treated not unlike a rockstar, as he was wined and dined, has now left our shores after his annual holidays.

He partied in Kingston and St Ann with friends.
