Harbour View, Arnett in Champions Cup feature
published: Tuesday | March 25, 2008

Robert Bailey, Freelance Writer

Defending champions Harbour View will meet archrivals Arnett Gardens in today's feature, an all-Premier League clash, in the second round of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) COK Champions Cup Knock-out competition, at the Harbour View Mini Stadium, starting at 7:00 p.m.

In the day's other games, Barbican host Tivoli Gardens at Barbican and Humble Lions await Duhaney Park at York Town Community College. Both games start at 3:00 p.m.

Break drought

Arnett Gardens have never won this competition before and their coach, Jerome Waite, says they are aiming to break that drought this season.

"We are going to give it our best," said Waite. "It's not going to be easy because this is the Champions Cup. Every team wants to win it and so we are just going to give it our best shot," Waite added.

"Harbour View is a very good team and they always bring out the best in my team so we are going there in a very confident mood."

Waite pointed out: "The team hasn't been playing up to our expectations like the way they should have been playing. But whenever Arnett Gardens play Harbour View, it is end-to-end action from start to finish and so is going to be a good game."

Looking for victory

Clyde Jureidini, general manager of Harbour View said: "We are looking for a victory because this is a knock-out competition, a decisive match - win or go home - and we are looking to get in front and maintain a leadership position."

Jureidini added that the Stars of the East will be banking on their prolific strike duo of Fabian Taylor and Kavin Bryan, their top marksmen.

"We have a lethal scoring machine and once they get into rhythm they will score goals and so this is not a major concern for us," Jureidini said.

"Our coach's focus now is to get the team back in training and back into a winning mood because we will be looking to create and convert all the chances that we create in the game," Juriedini explained.
