Winner of Pulse's Caribbean Model Search (CMS) - UK, Shareena Swinscoe, celebrated her first major magazine cover when she appeared on one of Britian's top glossies, PRIDE magazine.
The 16-year-old cover girl has a fashion sense way beyond her years on the February cover, and is heralded as the 'next big thing' out of Britain. Despite her shy demeanor, the fashion-forward beauty is a consummate professional who was deemed as the chick with the 'mass of potential' by the mag's fashion editor and stylist, Shevelle Rhule.
Looking like a veteran on the pages of the fashion publication, the doe-eyed, unassuming beauty's best features come to the fore with this shoot. Shareena's piercing eyes, quiet confidence and thick, long mane earned her further praise from the shoot's main lens man Ayo Banton.
One of Europe's top photographers, with clients such as Elle, Sugar, Clinique and Puma, Banton raves, "She's going to be huge! She has a great look and takes direction really well. She's a little shy and still learning how to move, but in a couple of years she will be amazing."
Shareena spoke highly of her experience with the magazine.
"The shoot was so long, it lasted from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., non-stop," Shareena said. "I got on really well with all the crew and I think the pictures are great. I definitely want to reach for the stars in modelling, I really enjoyed the professional environment and all the styling and costumes we tried. This has given me so much experience."
Catwalk stars
The Caribbean Model Search - UK which was staged by More 3, Pulse's CMS UK partners, attracted contestants from over 18 cities across the country for the inaugural event last summer.
Following her home triumph at London's Leicester Square and prior to her Pride shoot, Shareena flew to Jamaica where she competed against budding catwalk stars in the regional leg of the Pulse CMS.
The English beauty did battle with other international hopefuls including the Jamaican six foot stunner Rochelle Notice to vie for the region's most coveted modelling title and a shot at international fashion stardom. The winner of the competition will be announced when the CMS's regional TV edition hits the airwaves later this month.
