Word of caution to the PM
published: Monday | March 10, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE JAMAICA House Live talk show is an important forum which facilitates important interaction between citizens and Government. Our citizens' association had the chance to highlight a sordid issue regarding the lack of an adequate health centre for the 15 communities in the Golden Spring environs.

The host, Bruce Golding, said he was awaiting a report on the matter, as well as his planned consultation with our Member of Parliament, Andrew Gallimore. The big irony, however, is that there have been no less than 30 reports and correspondence about all aspects of the need for this facility circulating for years.

Entities which can attest to these reports include the Ministry of Health, Jamaica Social Investment Fund, South East Regional Health Authority, the CHASE Fund, Office of the Prime Minister (via Parliament Secretary McCalla), the Kingston and St Andrew Corpora-tion and none other than MP Gallimore himself.

We, therefore, urge the honour-able prime minister not to allow these entities or individuals to push him into reinventing the wheel.

I am, etc.,

DERRICK SIMON

President

Golden Spring Citizens'

Association
