The 10th staging of the Pan Caribbean Sigma Run took place yesterday with about 85 teams and more than 8,000 persons participating. The goal to raise $10 million was achieved.

These funds have been earmarked for patient care at the renal units of the University Hospital of the West Indies, Cornwall Regional Hospital and the Kingston Public Hospital.

The races begun about 7:00 a.m. in front of the Pan Caribbean building on Knutsford Boulevard. The route was Knutsford Boulevard to Trafalgar Road and on to Waterloo Road, then West Kings House Road and on to Constant Spring Road, from Constant Spring Road to Suthermere Road, then Hope Road, on to Winchester Avenue, Ruthven Road, Half-Way Tree Road and on to Oxford Road, where it culminated at Emancipation Park. After the race, an awards ceremony followed and then an entertainment package.
