DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Clan Carthy Primary won their second consecutive hold on the Institute of Sports (INSPORTS) Juiciful netball crown following an exciting 12-9 victory over Mona at the Leila Robinson Courts on Friday.
Dwayne Walker, coach of Clan Carthy, was delighted with his team's victory.
"I couldn't be happier today," said Walker. "During the rally competition, we made some mistakes with our shooting and today it was the same problems. But at half-time, we made a few adjustments and we came out victorious in the end.
"Our aim going into this game was to keep them from scoring - which we failed to do in the first half. However, we changed around the team and it worked out for us."
Not a disappointment
Meanwhile, Maureen Murray, coach of Mona, said: "This is not really a disappointment. My team came out and tried its best but it wasn't enough for us today. I must give them a lot of credit because they played their hearts for the school and I am very proud of them."
She further explained:"I think my team panicked in the second half."
The first half was evenly contested with Mona clinging to a 6-4 lead at the break.
However, Clan Carthy, who were beaten by Mona in the final of the Open Rally competition, came out firing in the second period as they outscored their opponents eight goals to three and romped to a comfortable victory.
Shadeen Coke, with six goals from 12 attempts, and Olivia Morrison who made six from six, scored the goals for Clan Carthy.
Mona's Natasi Campbell top scored for her team with seven goals from 13 attempts.
In the third-place play-off, August Town Primary whipped Harbour View 14-4.
