Summerbell
"Catch me if you can," that is the message Doug Gore is sending to his rivals, who will be challenging him at the 'Carnival of Speed Cable and Wireless Broad Band race meet, which will be held at the Dover Raceway, St Ann, on Easter Monday, March 24.
Gore, who is the Caribbean Champion Driver, sold his Mitsubishi Evolution 8 last year in Guyana. He has since acquired a Mitsubishi Evolution 5.
"If they believe that the Evo 8 was fast, then they should check out the Evo 5. Based on how it is being prepared, it is going to make the Evo 8 look really slow," said a smiling Gore.
While the preparation is incomplete, Gore said they are now installing some minor parts and completing the mechanical process. He further stressed that Team MoBay has been strengthen by a car which was previously owned by David Summerbell, who in turn sold it Gary Williams.
"When Summerbell sees this car, he is going to be amazed. The car has been prepared in immaculate condition," said Gore.
Contract
Matthew Gore, who has secured a contract to race professionally in the United Kingdom, has confirmed that he will here for the meet. He said everything is going well for him and he is scheduled to make his international debut on April 12 and 13.
"We expect keen competition from the Thunder Sport races as the Montegonian intends to continue the winning streak," said Hilary Jardine, president of the Jamaica Race Drivers Club (JRDC).
In the meantime, Summerbell, who has sold two of the three cars out of his fleet, is still unsure what class he will be competing on Easter Monday.
"I cannot say anything now, probably in another week I will be in a better position to say something," said Summerbell.
Well-prepared Mazda
But working hard behind the scene is Peter Rae who, according to reports, will be coming out with a well-prepared, second-hand RX7 Mazda, plus, he also trying bring out the famed 'Mini' car, which has proven so good during its time.
There are also reports that Peter 'Bull' Thompson has done some upgrading to his RX7 Mazda, which he hopes can challenge Doug Gore's Evo 5.
According to the JRDC organisers, there will be 12 exciting races on the programme, including Group Two and Group Three cars, as well as Improve Production 45 group.
While the drivers will be battling it out on the track the children will by having fun at the Kiddies Corner. The venue is being designed into a family setting, to accommodate wives and spouses.
