Pray for today's children
published: Wednesday | March 5, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

About the article 'Sex In Schools a Growing Problem' published February 29, I received the email about the schoolgirl and the boy who engaged in sex on the school premises and I was disgusted by it; but we as adults should face the music with today's children and teenagers. Clearly, that video did not show two children as far as we are concerned, they feel they are men and women. I am sure the big people displayed in the video were aware of the consequences once they allowed it get out about what they were doing.

Most of these children nowadays don't care. The breakdown is in the home, the community, the music, the school environment, their friends and the list goes on.

As a nation, we need to take these children, their parents and guardians in prayer. I made a joke to one of my teacher friends and told her that if I were you I would make up a form for students entering grade eight, and one of the questions would be: Do you want to stay in school?

It's that serious nowadays. I guess we can just continue to pray that the nation can turn around, it's nothing more than the Bible fulfilling its time. I hope that as a people, we can go back to the days where it takes a village to raise a child! I grew up on that and I didn't turn out too badly.

And I am not 40. I am a hard-working 24-year-old.

I am, etc.,
