The Editor, Sir:

The Manchester Parish Council has written history, after the recent Local Government election, in electing a mayoress for Mandeville for the first time in the person of Councillor Brenda Ramsay.

We congratulated Her Worship the Mayor for her ascendancy to this lofty political position.

It is noteworthy, that she served in the capacity of deputy mayor for quite some time, and so, she is not a stranger to this position.

I am hoping that the councillors from either side, and also the citizens will give her full support in executing the task for the betterment of the parish.

I would like to remind Her Worship that unhappy is the head that wears the crown, but don't be daunted when the unkind words are spoken. Be strong and be fair to all mankind.
