THE EDITOR, Sir:
With reference to two items in THE STAR re seeking expensive fertiliser from Venezuela, is it not possible to generate tremendous amounts of compost from the solid waste taken to the Riverton City and all municipal dumps in the other parishes. It would provide work in sorting and is organic in origin. There are experts schooled in agricultural sciences who could advise on rendering the material sterile while organically effective for mulching.
Another matter concerns generating sufficient electrical energy to prevent all-island blackouts; and how about solar energy, the use of windmills and hydroelectric energy. Are we called Xaymaca, land of wood and water, for nothing?
I am, etc.,
