There has been much talk about the collaborative effort between Cherine Anderson and Britney Spears on the remix of one of Spears' latest singles, Piece of Me.

Although it is one of six remixes, Anderson says hers in particular has "been getting a lot of positive feedback, especially from disc jocks overseas". In fact, Anderson says "the night we did it, we got back word that they (Spears and her management team) loved it".

"I recorded here (in Jamaica) with Sly and Robbie at Anchor and, of course, Britney recorded abroad, but the final product was mastered in the United States by her (Spears') record label," Anderson said.

Anderson said "my management as well as her management came together because they really wanted an authentic dancehall remix and so Britney's management approached my management team (Z Link Entertainment, headed by Patrick Lindsay)".

"The company is based in Philadelphia, but they have an office in Kingston and they manage and book for me exclusively and they also manage Sly and Robbie as well as some other overseas producers," she said.

'Another musical sister'

Britney Spears - File

Although Britney Spears is one of the biggest names in the American pop culture, Anderson views her as "another musical sister" who she would always support. According to Anderson, "I support any artiste who takes music as a career".

It was not difficult for Cherine Anderson to gel with the flow of the remix, as she says "when I heard the music I could immediately identify with the lyrics. No, I haven't had any experience with the paparazzi … but if you listen to all the parts that I have in the song, it's really just about giving support to another sister in music".

While Anderson says there are no immediate plans or hopes of performing live with Spears, there is a lot on her plate right now as she says "myself, Sly and Robbie will be going back on the road. We have a North American tour and we are also in plans with a couple of promoters to do a European tour finally".

"My album as well will be dropping this summer. We have productions from Sly, Christopher Birch, myself, Bobby Digital, Jekyman, who has done work with The Game and Lil' Kim, David Norland, who has done work with Janet Jackson and Madonna," she said. She says it will be a well-rounded album, "one that will truly reflect my upbringing. You will get your roots, lovers rock … but everything will be anchored in dancehall".

Mix tape coming

Anderson adds "there is a mix tape coming out soon and it will be available for free download on my space and it has the Chuck Fender song, the Britney Spears song and others and the whole vibe is like a dance vibe. All the hit songs done in a dance vibe". This, she says, "is a new side of me that fans will see, the dancehall side of me; they're going to really get to see Cherine".

Anderson says she has also been doing some writing for some R&B acts along with David Norland, but is not at liberty to call any names just yet.

At the end of the day, Anderson says, "I'm just truly committed to making songs that people love and enjoy … You don't choose your hits, the public chooses, so you just have to have fun with the music and enjoy it.."
