BOYS' TOWN RETURNED to their winning ways yesterday, defeating bottom-of-the-table August Town 1-0 in Cash Plus Premier League third-round action at the UWI Bowl.

With the win, Boys' Town improved their points total to 32, while August Town remain on 21.

An intense first half saw Boys' Town and August Town execute extreme tactical manoeuvres to break each other's defence. In the end, Boys' Town, with terrific passes from Shawn McKoy and George Vernal, dominated the half. Their hard work paid dividends in the second half as Renae Lloyd put Boys' Town in the lead from a free ball in the 57th minute.

No points

Despite good play from Mitchily Waul, Zeicko Herrera and substitute Nicholas Smith, who went on the pitch in the 65th minute, August Town were unable to pull back the goal and salvage at least a point.

August Town coach Hugh McCarthy said he was not thinking about his team being relegated from the Premier League, but only about improving its play.

"Every game is a tough one. We are rebounding from the second round where we had some problems, but we will still continue to work to stay in the league," McCarthy said.

Andrew Price, coach of Boys' Town, though delighted with his team's performance, indicated that despite the improvement the side was still failing to convert opportunities for goals.

"We are thankful for the three additional points but we still want to make a difference by getting more shots off on goal," Price said.
