Excellent idea!
What an excellent idea! It is neither presumptuous nor preposterous to suggest (Green spaces and Devon House, Editorial February 16) that "... some land (should) be culled from one or both of the properties (Jamaica House and King's House) to provide areas of relaxation and escape for ... Kingstonians (and others?) ...", but, in fact, the proposition makes a lot of sense in many respects.
My only tiny concern - and it is tiny, because it may be a problem of transactional analysis - is that you somehow manage to make a good complementary editorial into a criticism.

Breaking the cycle
It is time to break the cycle of corruption, nepotism and graft in government. To ensure honesty in government, the offices of auditor general and contractor general must be given more and wider powers to aid in investigations.
It should be an offence for any person to refuse to talk to, or lie to investigators from the offices of contractor general or auditor general.
Punishment should include very hefty fines, imprisonment and/or loss of job. In ensuring that the laws and rules are followed when purchasing government property that requires authorisation, the property in violation must be seized. The purchaser should not be reimbursed and hefty fines and/or imprisonment must be imposed on violators.

Peeing in public
High praise to those persons or organisation responsible for the restoration of the Nelson Mandela Park!
It is looking quite presentable, that is, when compared to its state around this time last year. However, there is still a huge problem that makes this park very unattractive, and that is the moats of urine that dominate the reaches of the steps surrounding the park. The decorative puddles actually bring tears to my eyes, as the fumes they release provoke my tear glands when I try to manoeuvre my way pass them.
Seeing that, in time to come, restrictions will be placed on public smoking, I believe that restrictions should also be placed on peeing in public. The scent and urine itself are quite distasteful and really do nothing for the environment, so I strongly support putting limitations on the act of peeing in public. Here's hoping that The Hope Zoo and Port Royal are next on the agenda.
