Womb or tomb?
published: Thursday | January 31, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

How dare we believe that we have the right to choose the life of another. Mary the mother of Christ was but a vessel for the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Can you imagine if she had the 'right to choose' life or death over a life that was not her own.

Jamaica land we love has stood against many of the forces of evil, but do we dare consider murder on our hands and make it legal? So then, what can we say to our beloved gunmen? If a situation/a life offends you, just get rid of it? How could we dare then to speak wrongfully of our out-of-womb killers?

Stem the root problem

Foetus vs child - the dictionary gives a definition of 'foetus' as 'fully developed young in womb'. Now tell me the difference - one is in the womb. So, will we now make this womb of woman a tomb for the young and defenceless? Irrespective of the circumstances for pregnancy, let us as a nation put our efforts into stemming the root of the problem for unwanted pregnancies and then establish the required support services.

Stop wasting time considering the legalisation of 'specialised' murder and establish programmes to prevent this from happening!

I am, etc.,
