Caribbean sprinters Simone Facey and Richard Thompson captured the 60-metre titles at the Razorback Invitational indoor track and field meeting on Saturday.
Jamaican Facey copped the women's sprint in 7.28 seconds and Thompson ran a personal best and NCAA automatic qualifying time of 6.62 in the men's equivalent at the Randal Tyson Track Complex where there were four Caribbean wins overall.
Jamaicans Sheldon Leith and Nickeisha Wilson also picked up wins at the meet.
Facey was not able to threaten the 2005 track record 7.09 by her Jamaican colleague Veronica Campbell, as she edged Juanita Broaddus in a tight finish, both athletes clocking the same time of 7.28 seconds, a provisional qualifying effort for the NCAAs. Facey's Texas A&M teammate Porscha Lucas was third in 7.39.
Thompson, of Louisiana State University (LSU), was less challenged as he took the men's 60, finishing 0.06 seconds ahead of Whitney Provost (6.68).
Leith earned an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.91 seconds in capturing the men's 60-metre hurdles for Oklahoma, topping Ryan Fontenot (7.95).
Wilson (53.66) and her teammate Latavia Thomas (53.99) secured an LSU one-two finish in the women's 400 as she won by more than 3/10ths of a second.
