A JAMAICA Defence Force (JDF) soldier, who was shot during a joint police/military operation in west Kingston on January 13, is recuperating from his injuries, an army official said yesterday.
Major Charlene Steer, the JDF's communications officer, said a bullet pierced the soldier's right arm. Fingers on the arm were also damaged, but she said he is expected to make a full recovery.
Due to army procedure, his rank and identity were not disclosed.

The Police Federation was unable to give an update on the policeman who was shot in the alleged gunfight ,which police say took place at 11:00 a.m. in the community of Tivoli Gardens.
Five men, who were holed up in a house at Keith Avenue in Tivoli Gardens, were killed in the alleged exchange. The police say the men fired on the security forces, a claim disputed by residents who say the men were murdered.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding who is also Member of Parliament, for West Kingston, has ordered a coroner's inquest into the incident.
