THE EDITOR, Sir:Detective Constable Lyn-Sue did something horrible and deserves his punishment. He should be commended, however, for his honesty and given support in becoming a better lawman and man in general.
This drama which has unfolded in the newspapers raises serious questions. How many other policemen fabricate statements or evidence? How many persons are convicted because of such lies? And how many cases of police killings are regarded as 'shoot-outs' because of similar lies? These illegal and unjust practices must come to light if we intend to have a respectable justice system.
Policemen who opted for anonymity in your paper have accused Lyn-Sue of being a traitor. They say he has given human rights organisations ammunition against the force, but so have they by issuing these public statements.
What is this 'code of silence' about which they speak? What is this 'secret pact' which requires that no one backtrack from a contrived storyline'?
Why is there so little said about these matters? And what is going to be done about this grave injustice?
