DOs & DON'Ts ... first-time encounters - Sexy vs creepy
published: Saturday | January 19, 2008

Sexy:

Walking up to a female and politely introducing yourself. A good old-fashioned "Hello, how are you, my name is ... " is almost always well received.

Creepy:

"PSSSSSST!! baby, you know seh mi like you."

First, are you losing air or spraying cockroaches? Whichever it is, it's not appreciated. Second, you are not a child anymore, step your game up and be a gentleman.

Sexy:

Waiting a day or two to call. Give him or her a little bit of time to think and wonder about you before you call. A little suspense and mystery will add to the excitement. however, don't wait too long to call, you don't want him/her to forget you even met.

Creepy:

Sending a 'please call me'. First impressions are lasting, wait until you have phone credit before you make that all-important first telephone call.

Sexy:

Greeting her father as 'Mr. so and so'. A little polite conversation will work in your favour. Get her father to like you and she's likely to be impressed.

Creepy:

"Wah a gwaan, Pops." You don't know him like that. Over-familiarity is always unattractive and that's just downright rude. Mind your manners.

Sexy:

Offering to split the tab on the first date. Women today like to scream that this is the age of female empowerment and independence. Put it into action.

Creepy:

Asking him to pay for your hair, nails and outfit.

Sexy:

Engaging in interactive discussions on a first date. Talking about your hobbies, interests, likes and dislikes is a great way to spark conversation and to discover what you and the person have in common.

Creepy:

Telling your entire life story on a first date. Your date doesn't need to know all about how John, Jane or Mary broke your heart when they cheated on you with your brother's best friend. Save that information for a later date, there is such a thing as too much too soon.
