Meadhaven continue winning ways
published: Wednesday | January 16, 2008

Keisha Hill, Staff Reporter

THERE WERE some keen tussles in the KSAFA/ Victoria Mutual Super, Major and Syd Bartlett league competitions played at the weekend.

In the Super League, leaders Meadhaven United had a comfortable 3-0 win over Police National and strengthened their lead to 21 points ahead of Bull Bay (20) who beat Rockfort 2-0. Constant Spring moved into sixth place and are now on eight points following their 2-1 win over Maverley/ Hughenden. Cavalier and the Jamaica Defence Force drew 1-1 as JDF retained their third-place position and moved to 13 points while Cavalier dropped one place and are now seventh on eight points.

There were some surprises in the Major League as Rae Town were knocked out of their second-place position by Liguanea, who jumped from 13 to 16 points, four points behind dominant leaders Real Mona, on 21.

Rae Town, now in third place on 14 points, drew 1-1 with Seaview Gardens. Cooreville Gardens jumped from eighth to sixth following their 1-0 win over UTech.

The encounters between Greenwich Town against Central Kingston and Brown's Town versus Barbican were not played due to the absence of security personnel.

In the Syd Bartlett League, Port Royal remain on top with 14 points following their 2-0 win over Meadforest, who dropped from third to fourth and remain on six points. Molynes United are still on seven points in second place. The biggest leap in the league came from Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) who rose from seventh to third place on seven points with a 2-1 victory over Molynes. Shortwood United also made good strides when they beat Maxfield Park 2-1 and elevated themselves from the bottom of the league to sixth on five points.

The match between New Kingston and Pembroke Hall was not played - also as a result of the absence of security personnel.
