The Thread Ceremony is an important aspect of Hinduism. The ceremony is a rite of passage that all Hindu males should complete. Members of the Samtani family celebrated theirs last weekend. Here are some highlights. - Photos by Janet Silvera

Belly dancer Elena Martinez of Habibi Latino Restaurant performs at the party in honour of the four young men, Mohit, Rajiv, Sascha and Vijay Samtani, who participated in the Hindu Thread Ceremony.

Michelle Daswani, wearing an embroidered chiffon sari with a bustier, looks simply gorgeous at the ceremony.

(From left) Cousins Mohit and Vijay and brothers Sascha and Rajiv prepare to be inducted into the Hindu religion during a traditional Thread Ceremony at the Rose Hall Resort and Country Club last Saturday. No Hindu male may marry before going through the ceremony, which takes them officially into adulthood.

The fabulous Katie Solomito looks like a fashion model.
