A surging Waterhouse were forced to claw their way into a share of the points in a last-gasp thriller that ended 1-1 against a struggling Boys' Town in Cash Plus Premier League action at Collie Smith Drive sports ground yesterday.
The crafty Michael Campbell struck in spectacular fashion to give the Red Brigade what surely looked to be their fifth win of the season. With just five minutes left to full time, the diminutive striker broke into the area, but drifting wide of goal, couldn't have been more than four yards away from the touchline before he rifled the ball high over the head of a fully stretched Waterhouse goalkeeper, Richard McCallum.
However, the red sea of celebrating Boys' Town faithful had hardly calmed before the dangerous Kevin Lamey forced a penalty, after a handled ball in the area which he calmly slotted home in the 88th minute.
"It surely looked like a win today, it's disappointing, but I have to commend the guys for the tenacity they showed," said Andrew Price, coach of Boys' Town which inched up to 21 points.
"Coming here, we expected a tough fight, we were looking for a bit more but it was a fair result," noted Waterhouse coach, Wayne Fair-clough. They now have 29 points.
