Bennett wants improvements
published: Monday | January 14, 2008

Anthony Foster, Freelance Reporter

DESPITE its massive 10-wicket Carib Beer Series victory over the Combined Campuses and Colleges team, Jamaica's coach, Junior Bennett, is no pleased with the team's performance.

His first concern is in the batting department.

"In this game, we were expecting to score over 300 runs and we were well-placed for that and we lost our last six wickets for 38 runs," he said. "It's a bit of concern with our batting.

"We really want someone to really go on," Bennett remarked. "They are getting starts but not carrying on."

Major concern

However, his major concern is with pacers Jermaine Lawson and Andre Russell.

"I am terribly disappointed with our fast bowling department. I don't like to see the spinners bowling to the openers and between the fast bowlers they have only gotten two wickets so far ... that's not good enough," lamented Bennett.

Despite that, he is pleased with the good start, as the team has now recorded a perfect two from two in the competition.

"We are bowling extremely well so far, and our out-cricket is not too bad," he contended.
