What do we do when life gives us an unhappy surprise?

When will our hopes rise?

How many failed tries

Until we get it right?

How long do we stare at the wall,

Wondering if everything is going to be okay after all?

Looking at our child's happy face,

Wondering if we will be able to keep food on her plate.

Is sitting down and reading classifieds,

Walking down the streets looking for help wanted signs,

All we can do?

Please tell me that's not true.

What do we do when life gives us an unhappy surprise?

When will our hopes rise?

How many failed tries

Until we get it right?

"I eventually have to give up,

I guess sometimes you do run out of luck"

But then I looked up to the sky,

Picked up a Bible and eventually realised ...

What we should do when life gives us this unhappy surprise,

What we should do until our hopes rise,

For God hears our cries

And He will help us find a happy life.

Let's not sit around idling

But instead spend time meditating and praying

We now have time for the charity work we said we would do

Some people have it worse than we do

"For I know the plans I have for you"

Declares the Lord, "Plans to prosper you and not harm you,

Plans to give you hope and a future".

I can hold on longer.
