From a Steve Bucknor fan
published: Friday | January 11, 2008

Bucknor

The Editor, Sir:

I feel I must write to you to express my feelings about the way Steve Bucknor has been treated. I am an Indian and a cricket lover. I grew up watching the great West Indies sides that featured legends like Viv Richards, Michael Holding and Clive Lloyd.

Times have definitely changed. Whatever happened to good old sportsmanship and fairplay?

I feel let down by Harbhajan Singh's behaviour towards a fellow professional, but worse, the Indian Cricket Board holding the ICC to ransom and threatening to boycott the tour if the decision goes against Harbhajan Singh.

I respect and admire Steve Bucknor. He, in my opinion, is one of the best umpires in the world, has a record second to none, and is a wonderful ambassador for the game. I wish him well at what must be a difficult time for him. If you are reading this, Mr. Bucknor, you have my friendship and support.

I am, etc.,

PARDIP KUMAR

Birmingham, England
