No comment on cruise ship crash
published: Tuesday | January 8, 2008

WESTERN BUREAU:

Royal Caribbean, owners of Liberty of the Seas, has said it will not comment on a minor accident that occurred with its vessel and a cargo boat in the Montego Bay Freeport Harbour on New Year's Day.

The Gleaner has learnt that the world's largest cruise ship had a close call last Tuesday morning, while docked in the harbour.

Reports are that strong winds blew a small cargo boat into one of the vessel's sides, causing minor paint damage.

None of the passengers on-board was reportedly injured.

"Until we know the circumstances surrounding the accident and not until the necessary reports are submitted, we are not commenting on the matter," said Mike Ronan, spokesman at Royal Caribbean.
