A waste of money
published: Tuesday | January 8, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

Once again we have witnessed how our country's tax dollars are being used wastefully, not even on our own Jamaican, but on a foreigner. Having followed the Woolmer saga, I am still trying to determine what was the purpose of this inquiry; (who were the defendants, if there were any involved, and why the Government, instead of using the DPP's office to prosecute the case, did not appoint a commission to investigate the matter so as to arrive at a solution.

Clearly, from the results obtained from the jury in this case, it is evident that this was another opportunity to waste citizens' precious tax dollars which, in my opinion, could have been used for other important causes.

It is about time that the Government comes to its senses. Given our financial constraints we have to be cautious and economical in making certain decisions.

I am, etc.,

Dr. MICHAEL THOMPSON
