The opening of the transfer window today could not have come any sooner for western Jamaica-based teams Seba United at Village United.

Both teams played to a 0-0 stalemate at the Elliston Wakeland Centre in the Cash Plus Premier League before a less than impressive size crowd. Based on the showing, both teams need many replacements.

Theodore Whitmore said it bluntly after the game that he is looking for a goalkeeper, a central defender, a central midfielder and attacking players - a whole new backbone.

"Tomorrow (today) the transfer window opens and we hope to get a couple of players. I can't really say in the game of football until they sign, but we are looking at a central defender, a central midfielder, goalkeeper and an attacking player,' said Whitmore who excused himself from the field of play.

Paul 'Tegat' Davis of Village United, while less specific, sounded a similar note saying that the team needs fighters, more committed players and ones who will work for the team.

Fight for the cause

"We need to be more aggressive and we need more players who will fight for the cause," Davis said of his team's failure capitalise on their dominance.

On the opening of the transfer window he said: "So far I haven't had a chance to go look at any players as I have been so busy coaching the team.

"We need players who will fight as we are in the relegation zone and people still play lackadaisical. It is sliding away from us and the attitude of some players is bad, but we will still hang on and fight and hope we will pull through," said Davis.
