The 2007 Tastee Talent Trail winner, Marvin Fishley was in top form at Genesis 2008, as the singing cop held the thousands of gospel loving patrons at the Montego Bay Community College under a musical curfew.

While Fishley's breathtaking performance was easily the high point of the well managed production, the performances of local acts Adoraccion Chorale, saxophonist Garfield Lawrence and Sonia Rowe, as well as the ministries of Jai, Ryan Mark and Jermaine Edwards will resonate for a while yet.

Thrilling from start to finish, the show featured the top three contestants in the Youth For Christ's talent search opening the show. They were followed by Saviours Anointed Servants.

All female group, Dynamic Gospelairs was next to be introduced by MC Markland 'Action' Edwards formerly of Love FM, but while giving a good account of themselves, their performance failed to connect with the crowd.

Next big thing

Marvin Fishley, the 2007 Tastee Talent Trail winner, delivers a thrilling set at the Montego Bay leg of Genesis 2008 on Monday.

Adoraccion Chorale demonstrated why they are being touted as the next big thing in gospel music, while Garfield Lawrence's saxophone did all the talking for him.

However it was Gospel Reggae artiste, Jermaine Edwards who set the tone for what was to come, with his unique blend of worship that had the capacity crowd in the Noel Frater Auditorium dancing and singing to hits such as Rise Up, You Deserve The Glory, Most High, and Johnny.

Entering the stage at about 3:25 a.m., Fishley had the entire auditorium on their feet from the moment he belted out the first note of Karen Peck and New River's Four Days Late and F.C. Barnes The Lord will fix it for me, before taking the audience on a sing along with some oldies but goodies.

This triggered a marathon praise session, and except for New Generation, who opted to take the audience through their dance routine and a clueless Norris Gayle all the acts that followed went into worship mode.

It was not until DJ Nicholas with his usually energetic presentation, sang the last note of the memorable event that the majority of those in attendance began to leave, even then persons could still be seen glorifying God.
