Guyana, Venezuela in talks on military incident
published: Thursday | December 13, 2007

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC):

Venezuela's Vice-Minister for External Relations Rodolfo Sanz led a six-member delegation to Guyana on Tuesday for talks with President Bharrat Jagdeo and other top government officials over the South American country's military invasion of Guyana last month.

"We have agreed to set up some mechanisms that would not only address this particular issue but try to prohibit other similar incidents from occurring," Guyana Foreign Minister Rudy Insanally told reporters after the meeting.

Sanz's one-day visit came amid criticism from opposition parties here that the Jagdeo administration is not acting decisively on the matter.
