All talk, no actionfrom WICB - Murray
published: Wednesday | December 5, 2007

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC):

PRESIDENT OF the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) and former West Indies wicketkeeper/ batsman Deryck Murray believes that too much talk is taking place on the state of West Indies cricket and nothing is being done to rectify the problems.

Murray was speaking after the West Indies lost their opening limited overs international to Zimbabwe by 30 runs on Friday.

"Too much 'ole' talk is killing West Indies cricket at the moment," Murray said.

"People are just talking, talking, talking and nothing is being done to rectify the problems in our game at the moment," he said.

Murray said the loss to Zimbabwe was 'disappointing but not surprising'.

"Who must beat us again for the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to stand up and take action? People have been saying that T&T has a good formula but this is just talk, no one is coming to us to ask about our formula and set-up," added Murray, who played on highly successful West Indies teams in the 1970s.

Murray explained that when a camp is held prior to a tour, players must be coming from the right training culture and bringing all the best practices from the different territories to benefit one another.
