Hardy's Wines installs bat at Cuddy'z
published: Wednesday | December 5, 2007

CUDDY'Z SPORTS Bar and Restaurant was abuzz with activity on Monday night as Hardy's Wines, one of Australia's best-known and most popular wines, officially handed over a 'Modern-Masters'-autographed cricket bat which was presented to Jamaica during this year's Cricket World Cup hosted in the Caribbean.

Autographed by three of the world's finest batsmen, Brian Lara (West Indies), Sachin Tendulkar (India) and Steve Waugh (Australia), the bat, certified by PricewaterhouseCoopers, is valued at US$3,000 ($22,000).

Jamaica largest market

Shari Lobo, representing Hardy's Wines, said during the ceremony that Jamaica represented one of the largest markets for Hardy's in Caribbean.

"We are pleased to install the Hardy's bat at Cuddy'z as Courtney Walsh represents one of the greatest cricket icons of our time," Lobo said. "He is Jamaica's favourite son and this is a tribute to the man whose spirit was as unbreakable as his body. This spirit motivated him to collect 519 Test wickets."
