Postal probe needed
In response to the letter entitled 'Poor postal service', with crime strangling most sectors of the Jamaican society, it is no surprise that members of the Jamaican postal service are caught up in the criminal act of stealing from people's mail. To be certain, this practice has been occurring for many years.
I can empathise with Ms. Marisa Dawkins-McPherson's weakened confidence in the Jamaican postal system.
In April of this year, I posted a card to Jamaica for Mothers' Day. I posted the card way in advance hoping that it would reach on time. Up until now, there is no sign of the card. I am assuming that some unscrupulous postal worker, hoping to find cash in my card, discarded it upon ravaging its contents. I have since mailed a parcel home and I can only hope and pray that it reaches the hands of the recipient.
I hope, too, that some stringent investigations will be made into the operations of the Jamaican postal service as mail tampering is against the law.
