Glitter and glow for the season
published: Monday | December 3, 2007

Glitter and glow for the season - photo by Sacha Walters

"Lots of bling, glitter and glam," are the trends which Nicki Quallo, make-up artist from The Beauty Spot, says are in for holiday make-up.

But this look is not for the faint of heart, nor is it appropriate for your office party. This is all about standing out in the crowd at the club.

To achieve the hyperglittered look, Nicki dipped her brushes in metallic eye shadows which included bronze and gold.

Adding a couple of extra individual false lashes at the edge of the upper eyelid took the drama factor even higher.

Pasting three rhinestones on the outside of the left eye and one on the space between the corner of the right eye and the nose added a unique touch.

She shared some tips one should keep in mind when trying to achieve this look.

1. Always use a bronzer. "Black women need a bronzer," she said this makes them glow.

2. Use extra liner. She used a pencil and liquid liner to achieve a smokey eye effect for night.

3. When applying this much loose glitter to the eyelids, some will fall beneath the eyes, so it's best to apply extra loose powder beneath the eyes and once you've completed working with them, you dust away the extra powder with the loose glitter.

The Beauty Spot is located inside Lee's Fifth Avenue, Tropical Plaza, Constant Spring Road.
