All good things must come to an end as High Society calls it quits on the party scene. For the last 10 years Garth Walker, Leighton Davis and Jodi Myrie have dominated party planing as founders of High Society, orga-niser of events such as 'Special Delivery' and 'Fabulous 500'. Now the party trio has called an end to their days at the top of the party scale.
Walker told The Gleaner, "Let me start by saying its not over, we're at the top of our game. We don't have anything to prove, we have revolutionised the industry. We might as well step away while we're at the top of our game and give it a break."
High Society has had a good run at the top with 'Special Delivery' and many other all-inclusive parties creating waves among patrons. Each year, patrons scramble to find the perfect suit to grace the innovative parties planned by the group.
This Christmas, only a lucky few will get the chance to experience High Society for the last time. On Christmas Day, 'Special Delivery' takes its last breath with the a party to be held in Jamaica by the group.
"You can expect a full combination of themed events. The difference is that this night will not be an all-access event but invitation only. Which means it's going to be free for those with invites. We started off free and we're going to end the same way, free," Walker said.
Name on the guest list
The plan is to have 400 patrons who will have the option to bring a guest, along with a few others who will come by themselves. The key thing then is to get your name on the guest list for a Christmas that will prove to be unforgettable. 'Fabulous 500', a party based in Miami from High Society, will also see its end this Christmas.
"It burns my heart, a lot of patrons have called and seh no it can't be the last one. It goes to show that people really appreciate what we have done," Walker said
While it may be the end of High Society, it will not be the end for the promoters who are all business men at the same time and who all plan on carrying on their various ventures.
However, Walker says that one can never know what the future holds, so patrons can keep their fingers crossed and make a Christmas wish for one more High Society party.
