A five-minute black out in the middle of a segment could not prevent the successful launch of award-winning designer, Lisa McIntosh's, NeahLis 'Tropical Paris' collection on Saturday night at Ardenne Road in St. Andrew.

The collection was showcased as her latest for the holiday season.

The fashion show lasted for a mere 35 minutes with 11 adult pieces, including the dress worn by the designer and four children's pieces. It featured models from Saint International and guest models like Renee from Hype TV and D'Angel, who is also a former model.

The pieces presented drew combinations of silk from Paris and bright tropical colours from Jamaica. Bright shades of green, orange, aqua, red and yellow were complemented by sober colours of white black and brown in either stripes or kaleidoscopic prints.

The designs

Most of the pieces featured deep necklines to the front and back, as well as a tie at the back. Others were loose fitting and some had a sash tied around the waist. The loose-fitting dresses had either short fitted sleeves or loose flowing ones. Some of the shorter pieces were worn with shorter leggings.

The children were not to be outdone, as they, too, wore designs similar to those of the adults with whom they modelled.

The theme 'Jamaica meets Paris' was also depicted by an ambience that highlighted inspirations from both countries. The backdrop, table cloths and centrepieces were done in the white, blue and red of Paris and the green, yellow and black of Jamaica.

The event, which was described by the host Deiwight Peters as one of "subtle elegance", would not have been complete without a performance from gospel artiste, Jodi McCalla, who started the show with a prayer.

It was ended by D'Angel who bellowed "And-so!" while entering the stage to perform Blaze.

Thereafter, the guests continued their cocktails and visited the NeahLis boutique, where they saw designs from the collection.
