Two killed in east Kingston
published: Saturday | November 24, 2007

Two persons were killed in separate incidents on Thursday afternoon in the volatile eastern Kingston. The police, however, have not been able to establish a link between the incidents which happened less than two hours of each other.

In the first incident which took place about 6:50 p.m., Tefawi Samuels, 29, of Portland Road, Kingston 2, was at the intersection of Kensington and Windward roads with two other men when an argument developed between them and another group of men.

During th knives were drawn and used to inflict wounds to Samuels and his friends. The police were summoned and Samuels and the men were taken to the hospital where Samuels was pronounced dead and the others admitted in critical condition.

In the other incident which occurred at 8:00 p.m. three persons were shot, one fatally, at Richard Road. Dead is Gary Walker, 24, of Langston Road, Kingston 3.

Reports are that Walker and two other men were on Richard Road when a group of gunmen opened fire at them, hitting them. Walker was pronounced dead at hospital while the other men were treated and released.

Deputy Superintendent of Police for east Kingston, Michael Ellis, told The Gleaner that the first incident was as a result of men accusing each other of committing robberies in the area.

The DSP, however, said that they have not ascertained the cause for the second incident.
