Barnett, Goule to battle in Portmore
published: Sunday | November 18, 2007

Goule

ROYALTY TRACK Club's Tanice Barnett looks set to secure her first Foska Oats Grand Prix Road Race title at today's Burger King 10K, the final race of the series at Portmore Mall. Race time is 3:00 p.m.

However, Manchester High's Natoya Goule will not be giving up her crown without a fight. Goule will have to win today's race and hope that Barnett finishes fifth or below if she is to retain her title.

Barnett, who won the first two races of the series, the Foska Oats and Ministry of Health 5K, only needs to finish fourth or better in today's final race.

Determined to continue

And she is determined to continue her dominance over Goule, whose only victory this season came at the Credit Union 5K, which was without Barnett.

Goule believes her losing to Barnett is over as she is ready to take back what is hers.

"That is not going to happen again, rain or sunshine," said Goule. "It's not going to happen again because I really want to win the 10K. It's going to be different."

Safe bet

Meanwhile, Bellefield High's Kemoy Campbell, who won the first two races on the men's side, is a safe bet for the overall title.

"I plan to win this race because I think I am better at this distance ... 5K has a lot of speed and I am good with the endurance work, so I think I will win the Burger King 10K," Campbell said.

Campbell and Barnett are on 24 points. Goule of Manchester High and Kirk Brown of Ebony, their nearest rivals, are on 20.
