WESTERN BUREAU:

Music from yester-year filled the afternoon skies, as family and friends joined Mandeville businessman L. Albert Powell in celebrating his 71st birthday at Wild Woods, in the cool hills of Manchester, last Saturday.

From buffet style fare to an ever busy bar, the vibe was one of celebration for one of the parish's favourite sons. This was complemented by the mastery of Kool FM's Stokey Love as he whet the guests' musical appetite with a serving of hits from the '70s, '80s and '90s, as many used the occasion to catch up on old times.

The highlight of the evening, however, would be the birthday boy's gift. A spanking new 2008 Toyota Hilux motor truck from his nine children: Terrence, Albert Jr., Annette, Marice, Chyrell, Claire, Laura Ann, Janice and Tashney who was unable to attended due to school commitment.
