An abnormal practice
published: Friday | November 9, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

I am confused as to why there is such a debate about homosexuality in Jamaica and the global community. How can we debate whether homosexuality is right or wrong? Let's forget about religion and Christian principles and look at simple 'laws' of nature.

The sole purpose of sex in nature is for procreation not recreation and I am waiting for someone to show me two males or two females engaged in sexual activities producing a child. It is no coincidence in nature that opposites attract (positive electrons to negative electrons in forming compounds, north and south poles in magnetism, etc.).

Homosexuality is ABNORMAL

I am, therefore, forced to conclude that homosexuality is an abnormal practice and should not be forced into acceptance by those who choose to engage in this abnormality.

What next? Do we start accepting and embracing murders and murderers because a lot of persons are engaged in the practice. It seems that in order for something to be considered 'normal' or 'right' all that is required is for a large enough number of persons to agree or engage in the relevant actions.

There is absolutely no debate whether scientifically, morally or spiritually about homosexuality being wrong. I have a very interesting question for those who support homosexuality. If the entire world was to become homosexuals, would it be the end of the human race?

I am, etc.,
