Premier games back on Sunday
published: Thursday | November 8, 2007

Keisha Hill, Staff Reporter

THE CASH Plus Premier League (CPPL) which was thrown into turmoil after the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) suspended last Wednesday's round of games, will resume this Sunday.

Following a meeting between the JFF and the Premier League Clubs Association (PLCA), held at the federation's offices yesterday, the JFF agreed to restart the CPPL after "strong and cordial discussions".

A number of points were raised and agreed to including the JFF's commitment to continue administering the CPPL and the PLCA will continue to manage the commercial arrangements of the league on behalf of the JFF.

Outstanding fees

The PLCA will also pay all outstanding fees for referees, match commissioners and referee inspectors as of September 1. All related administrative costs associated with administering the CPPL by the JFF will be presented to the PLCA for immediate settlement and the JFF will continue to administer all rights relating to the federation's knockout competition for the coming season.

Horace Reid, general secretary of the JFF, was relatively pleased with the outcome of the discussions.

"The main focus of the meeting was to resume the premier league as quickly as possible," Reid said. The JFF will continue discussions with the PLCA on a range of issues including administering the CPPL and commercial arrangements with the league.

Due to the inclement weather that has affected the island in recent weeks, the JFF will conduct field inspections at the venues of the 12 participating teams.

The JFF also yesterday con-firmed the dates for two friendly international games for the national senior team this month.

The Reggae Boyz will play El Salvador on Sunday, November 18, and Guatemala on Wednesday, November 21, at the National Stadium.
