The Editor, Sir:
I am utterly disgusted and dis-appointed with some of the government agencies in this country; in particular, the KSAC and the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA).
It grieves me when I see Mr. Desmond McKenzie running around tearing down advertising signs and hitting his chest like King Kong when the roads in the residential areas (in particular) that we Jamaicans have to drive/walk on to get in and out of our communities are in such a deplorable condition. Why should these people be paid with hardworking taxpayers' money when the job that they were employed to do is not being done?
Mr. McKenzie, when will the roads be fixed so that we can safely drive and walk on them? That is what you and your agency should be focusing on with urgency right now!
Long before Hurricane Dean I realised that if I did not pick up the phone and called the NSWMA and speak to the manager, the household garbage in my community would not be picked up. I cry "shame" on these agencies and the people in charge of them, and I say to the people of Jamaica that when we demonstrate, it is things like that we should demonstrate against!
I am, etc.,
