Where do illegal guns come from?
published: Thursday | November 8, 2007

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Who are importing the guns? Where do these murderers and criminals get their guns? Where are they coming from?

First of all, let us ask this question: Where do the soldiers, police and armed forces get their guns? The Government knows, the Members of Parliament know. Therefore …

We are living in an age of modern technology. The only thing man cannot do is create a living soul. And for so long they cannot tell where these destructive weapons are coming from. Can you imagine?

On the other hand, we are hearing - and it's a fact - that most, if not all, of these gunmen and murderers are unemployed - and cannot find their food; so are they being paid to carry out their gruesome acts - by those in authority?

Another point: Apart from capital punishment or hanging, there is another major solution that could stem the crime rate. And that solution is: a cessation of the importation of guns and ammunition into the island; a halt in giving out guns to the garrisons, gangsters and murderers. It would be a big difference. Can it become a reality?

I am, etc.,
