All in the same boat
published: Thursday | November 8, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

I never thought I would live to see the day when the well-to-do and the not-so-well-off would have common complaints. But after reading Peter Shoucair's letter entitled 'Jacks Hill danger', which appeared in The Gleaner on November 6, I must conclude that we are now all in the same sinking boat. Some years ago, impassable potholes in Jacks Hill or any other important hill would be unimaginable, because these hills were the homes of the elite citizens of our society.

Now Jacks Hill, Beverley Hills, Red Hills and Stony Hill, Grants Pen, Riverton, Ackee Walk and Rema all share the same complaints: potholes, crime, garbage, rats, traffic jams, intermittent water and light, and pollution. We have finally become one nation united under the banner of degradation and incompetence.

I am, etc.,
