Jerome Taylor ... claimed three wickets for 37 runs in the KFC Cup final.- fileJAMAICA BROKE an eight-year drought by winning the regional KFC Cup one-day tournament in Barbados last weekend thanks to the brilliant all-round effort of Jerome Taylor.
West Indies fast bowler Taylor was the Man of the Match for his impressive display of pace and aggression that earned him three wickets for 37 runs in his 10 overs and his equally significant innings of 18 that helped the Jamaican lower-order push the total to 230 from a position of 148 for six.
It was with this performance that Taylor has been selected as The Gleaner's Top Performer of the Week.
In Jamaica's 230, Taylor and Nikita Miller (26, 29 balls) added 25 for the eighth wicket.
started things off
Later, when Trinidad and Tobago replied, Taylor started things off by removing Mario Belcon, who was a leg before victim playing across the line.
Shortly after, Taylor took care of captain Daren Ganga, whose unconvincing attempt to hook ended up in a catch to keeper Carlton Baugh.
Taylor, ignored for the ICC World Twenty20 Championship, returned later in the innings to claim the dangerous Samuel Badree for 11.
Overall, Taylor said he was not impressed with his performance in the tournament.
"I am not totally satisfied," he said, while adding he is going back to do some work in St. Elizabeth.
"Before I left, I knew if we should reach the final, we had five games to play, so I was looking to average at least three wickets per game, which would work out to 15, I ended up with 11, so I fell short by four," he said.
