Daniel Ricketts yesterday inspired Seba United to a 3-1 victory over homesters August Town to retain their one-point lead atop the standings over champions Harbour View in the Cash Plus Premier League.
Ricketts, operating as a winger in Seba's 4-3-3 combination, fired in expert squares in the 27th and 48th minutes for Delroy Ellis and Kemar James to score from inside the six-yard box.
Ellis met Ricketts' square from the left side of the box with a well-timed run at the near post after the Seba winger took Tafari O'Connor to the line and sent in a low cross. The Seba striker got between August Town's goalkeeper, blind-siding him and neatly re-directed the cross into goal.
Determined
August Town came out determined after the break and got their equaliser in what could be the goal of the season so far from Daniel Shaw.
Bettering a spot kick he scored against Village United two rounds ago, Shaw made room for himself 30 yards on the right side of midfield and unleashed a shot which could only be admired as it sailed into the roof of Seba's net.
However, gross indiscipline set in for the homesters after they drew level as left back Nicholas Smith allowed Ricketts to pick up a return pass from midfield on the right flank. The Seba winger's square was met on the goal line by James racing into the six-yard box.
Third goal
August Town, who started the round sixth in the standings on seven points, dropped two places lower in time added, conceding a third goal when goalkeeper Devon Haughton chose to dribble around advancing Oliver Trail instead of playing safe inside his area.
Trail dispossessed the goalkeeper just inside the right side of the box and made no mistake despite shooting from distance at an acute angle.
